5 Steps to Visualize Art On Your Walls

This guide is all about helping you visualize what your athlete’s photos will actually look like on your walls—before anything gets printed or framed. By following a few simple steps, we’ll turn your space into a canvas where you can preview different sizes, styles, and arrangements. It’s the easiest way to take the guesswork out and make confident decisions about what will look best in your home.

To make the most out of your viewing session, please send your wall photos at least 48 hours prior to your viewing session.

What you’ll need

  1. Your phone camera

  2. A sheet of 8.5”x11” paper (printer paper is perfect)

  3. A bit of tape (blue painter’s tape is great)

Quick Summary

  1. Find your primary wall

  2. Pick a few secondary spaces

  3. Tape paper to the wall for scale

  4. Snap a photo straight on

  5. Upload it via link below

STEP-by-step GUIDE

Step 1: Find the Spot That Deserves the Spotlight

The primary wall is the one that makes a statement. This is where we can go 30x45” or even bigger. Ask yourself:

  • What’s the first wall people see when they walk in?

  • Where do people hang out when they come over?

  • Is there a spot where you always pause, even for a second, when walking past?

  • Does your athlete have a room where their friends hang out that could use a wow-factor?

Here are some great spots families often choose:

  • The entrance or foyer

  • Above the couch in the living room

  • The stairway wall

  • Basement or game room

  • Their bedroom

Step 2: Pick a Few Secondary Spaces

Now that you’ve found your big moment, look for the smaller ones.

These are the walls that don’t need to scream, but can still tell a story—maybe a few supporting prints or a smaller statement piece.

Think:

  • Hallways

  • Between windows

  • Over a reading nook

  • Dining room corners

  • Bathroom gallery wall

These little spaces tell the rest of the story.

Step 3: Tape a Sheet of Paper to the Wall

This is going to help me show you how everything will look to scale. Just grab that 8.5”x11” sheet of paper and tape it right onto the wall—about chest height in the middle of where you might want the art.

Step 4: Snap a Photo

Keep it simple and straight-on. Here are some tips so that I can create the most accurate mockups:

  • Use your phone’s standard camera

  • No wide-angle or portrait mode (those distort things)

  • Stand about 6–12 feet back

  • Wipe the camera to get a clear shot

  • Make sure the entire wall and the paper are in the shot

  • Keep your phone level and directly face the wall (Avoid tilted angles or standing way off to the side)

  • Think of it like taking a photo of the wall—not the room.

What’s Next?

Once I have your wall photos, I’ll get to work creating custom previews that feel like you. We’ll walk through your options during the session and design something that fits your space, your style, and the story you want to tell.

And if you're unsure about anything—what wall to pick, how to take the photo, or if something looks off—just reach out. I’m here to make this fun, personal, and completely stress-free.

Can’t wait to bring these moments to life on your walls. 💛
